This year Tilly competed at QBRA (Queensland Barrel Racing Association) we were fortunate to have a season after Covid. Tilly won 3D and 4D Junior for the year and also won the 3D junior for the finals. She finished the year on a high winning 2D in 2 of the 3 rounds at finals.
Next year is all comes back to normal Tilly is hoping to complete QBRA again as well as ABHA and NBHA when time permits.

What a year 2020 shaped up to be for all of us!
Our year started off quite slowly with only a couple of Jackpots before I travelled to Gympie to compete in the 2019 NBHA State Show. State Show ran over 3 days at the Gympie Rodeo Grounds, we were lucky enough to have it rain on the Friday night which made for quite wet grounds although this didn’t hinder performance at all. Queen of Spin placed 2nd in the 5th Division in Round 1, 5th in the 4th Division in Round 2 & which landed us 1st in the 4th Division in the Average and taking home the 4D Buckle for 2019. Not only did we win some amazing prizes we also secured a Wild Card to compete at the World Championships in America 2020. We arrived home and Covid-19 struck and locked down the country. We took this opportunity to let our horses have a little break and go back to basics with training.
11th of July we were able to start venturing out again following strict rules, so we headed to Lauralla Lodge to compete, picked up placings which was a great start back. Clifton Pines Queentime whom we purchased in March made her debut to barrel racing.
September brought the start of the ‘Queen of Hearts’ Series hosted at Fernvale Showgrounds. Queen of Spin & Clifton Pines Queentime were nominated to run. Round 1 Queen of Spin placed 1st in the 2nd Division, round 2 Queen of Spin and I secured 3rd in the 3rd Division.
QBRA held their finals at the end of September in Dalby where Queen of Spin won the 3rd Division in the first round, placing down the 3rdDivision in rounds 2 & 3 and finished up 6th in the 3rd Division in the average.
Back to Fernvale for Rounds 3 & 4 saw Queen of Spin win the 3rd Division and Clifton Pines Queentime hot on her heels picking up 3rd in the 3rdDivision.
I then packed my pair of Queens up to travel to Gracemere for the ABHA State Championships event held at the CQLX Grounds. A competition over 3 days with over 600 competitors each day. I had 3 clean runs on both Queens and placed 15th in the second Division average on Queen of Spin against over 350 competitors from all over QLD.
Early November brought the final rounds of the ‘Queen of Hearts’ barrel series, my pair of Queens tried their hearts out with no placings in Round 5 & 6 although our consistency landed us in the midst of run offs for End of Series prizes. Queen of Spin was tied for 4th place in 2D & winner of 3D, Clifton Pines Queentime tied for 4th place in the 3D. Due to Queen of Spins illness battle in recent weeks I decided to keep her best interests at heart and forfeited the placing for the 2D.
We came away ‘Queen of Hearts’ Barrel Series Open 3D Winners. My pair of Queens are now on a well-deserved holiday before preparations commence for 2021 Season.
Thank you Hyfeed, we appreciate your support and commitment throughout 2020 and look forward to 2021.

I am proud to be a part of the Hyfeed team because I believe strongly that a horse on a suitable diet will not only look better, but it also has a greater ability to learn. This is particularly important to me as I am hoping to increase the number of horses I break in this year, for not only myself, but a number of clients. I have only been using Hyfeed now for the past two years, but have had great success, and will continue to do so with a range of horses including: broodmares, yearlings, breakers, mustering horses, show horses and polocrosse horses.
I have found it to be one of the best feeds to keep condition on, not only my own breakers, but also my clients throughout the breaking in period. I haven’t found a breaker that it hasn’t suited yet. Through this dry time, I have had some yearlings in feed and without access to Hyfeed they would not be in as good of condition as what they are now.
All my competition horses love it and I find it works great to keep condition on and gives the show horses a nice shine. It is also suitable for our top-level polocrosse horses, which I have found helps keep them going during the playing season. It is great to have such a versatile feed that you can trust and count on for all levels and disciplines of horse.

Even though 2020 was a non-event as far as showing and competitions went, for me it didn’t slow down, consisting of a lot of hard work.
This year I started riding track work for Jake Capewell at Bahram every morning before my full time job. I have learned so much and become a better rider for it and had a lot of fun educating the babies. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
I managed to get to a handful of shows this year, taking Honey Toast to three ag shows for three Supreme Champion Led wins, two t-shirt hack days for two more Supreme Champion wins and the Equestrian Queensland Thoroughbred Feature Show for two wins and a second placing.
We also competed in some online shows, coming away with numerous Champions, a Supreme Champion Hack and a Supreme Champion Led win. They were well run and such a great idea to keep everybody motivated and give us all something to look forward to.
I was very disappointed to not be able to get to any more events (along with everyone else in Australia) and it is safe to say I am chomping at the bit to get to the 2021 shows with Honey Toast. He has had a nice holiday and we are ready to get back into it and give it our all in 2021. I plan on attending all of the local ag shows and Toowoomba and Brisbane Royal.
Thank you Hyfeed for your constant support throughout what has been a tough year for us all. I am super grateful for your sponsorship and look forward to 2021!

This has been a long year. In January, I was keen to get in and train my horses and myself for a big year of barrel racing. By March, my horses were fit and ready to run for the new season with Queensland Barrel Racing Association. We managed to get in a couple of events before we had to close down due to Covid-19.
During the time we had off, I concentrated on my young horses that needed breaking in and getting going. I also focused on completing my Emmett Levels to become a fully trained Emmett Therapist.
As each month went by, I kept hoping that covid would slide back into its hiding hole, so we could get back to competing. On the 11th July when restrictions were lifted, we had our first competition back hoping it wasn’t the last and we would still be able to have our finals held at the end of September. As it turned out, we run every weekend up until our finals, where I won the QBRA End of Year 4D buckle and my horse “Lagoona Instant Playgirl” won the 4D high point horse for the year.
Next year is already shaping up to be a big one for me. I am planning on taking my young horses out and about to witness the barrel racing scene and continue their education as well as competing on my seasoned horses. I would like to get out and about to treat/help horses using the Emmett theory.

In 2020 I started the rodeo season off well with some nice runs at Lawrence rodeo in NSW and Stanthorpe rodeo in QLD. When the pandemic came about, everyone had to step back which left us with no rodeos to go too. As the months passed, I was able to run two successful barrel racing jackpots in Warwick with the QBRA & ABHA, I received high nomination numbers and was really pleased with how the jackpots brought people to the local area.
This year, my good competition horse Cooper has had some time off, and a recent surgery. He is currently recovering, but this has encouraged my young horse Darcy to step up. We competed in divisional barrel racing late this year with the QBRA, competed in our first campdraft (and receiving a score in the camp!) and started arena roping calves. Darcy is improving in leaps and bounds with many divisional placings, he recently ran third overall at a barrel race in Pittsworth, in his first 5 months of competition.
I am very excited to see where Darcy’s future takes us! Hyfeed has been a great asset to my horses, they look and perform at their absolute best. I am very proud to represent the brand and have since converted many fellow competitors to Hyfeed.
I’d like to thank Hyfeed for their continuous support in my horses careers!

2020 was a very start and stop kind of year for us. With a late start to the competition year due to building our horse paddocks, stables and arena we finally got going in March. Starting with a Showjumping clinic with Rod McQueen through our local jump club and then our fist show, the Hunter Valley Showjumping Championships with a team of 5 horses.
Needless to say that’s when things came to a screaming halt. After having gone through Equine Influenza we knew this was going to be a human version and not much was going to happen for some time.
Once everything looked like opening again it got chaotic here. We had 5 competition horses in work plus 4 additional horses in work. All whilst I was working full time and Jack was between the horses and the farm. It kept us on our toes.
We then ran another Showjumping Clinic with Rod McQueen in June, attended Moree Show Showjumping Spectacular in August and ran a Showjumping Competition weekend through the local jump club.
Things became quiet around our area again so we headed to the Central Coast for a week of lessons at Equus Australia with Rod Brown and Rod McQueen followed by a one day show at Krissy & Heath Harris’ amazing new equine facility, ‘Stonewall’. It is going to be a huge asset to Australian Equine Community once finished.
Once we finished down South we came home we turned the competition horses out and have started breaking in our 3yr olds. Both whom we bred by our Stallion Lightening Strikes. We spent a weekend with Scott Richo touching up and learning new horseman ship skills with the breakers.
We also ran another Rod McQueen clinic in September. And attended a clinic run by Ross Smith and Hayley Morris in the lead up to the November Showjumping Competition at Toowoomba.
2021 is looking chaotic with plenty of shows on the agenda up to July so far and will have us heading back to Qld a couple of times.
Our goals for 2021 are -
Lightening Strikes - Start in a Futurity Class
Ludi Romani - Clean Consistent rounds and possibly a sale
Original Sin - Injury free and back on the truck 🤞 Showtown - Win amateur class
Priceless Rock - finish the year jumping 1.20m Plus we are putting in a dam to swim the horses, super excited about that one!

Despite 2020 being the year that everything was thrown into chaos, and most of the major shows that we had planned being cancelled, we were lucky enough in Queensland to get out and about towards the end of the year.
With all major royal shows and national competitions cancelled, my main horse Dicavalli Royal Rory was left on an extended holiday until normality returned. Hes absolutely loved it, and has come back better than ever and hoping for a 2021 to remember – We are aiming for 20 Royal show Open Hunter hack wins next year (at 18 now!)and another Nationals qualification.
Although I was very very busy with work during the pandemic, I was able to compete by young horse Stoneleigh Holly Go Lightly (now sold to a wonderful young rider), Heathmont Flirt an up and coming Small Show hunter hack and Debanlay Class Act a newcomer large Hunter pony. We were lucky enough to compete at a few shows towards the end of the year, with Nationals and Grand nationals qualifications, as well as great success at the QLD Horse of the Year shows including Champion Newcomer of the year, QLD Runner up Open Small hunter hack and QLD Runner Up Adult rider of the year with Heathmont Flirt – a wonderful result for such a young inexperienced horse at the start of their career.
2021 looks to be a very exciting year as I also have a Newcomer Open hack to bring out and another small hunter hack, as well as continue on with Rory, Georgia (Flirt) and Blaire (Class Act). Fingers crossed our year starts with Grand Nationals, Sydney Royal and Toowoomba Royal shows.
All with the support of Hyfeed keeping them looking at their best. I keep them looking fabulous on Shine On, HyFibre, Alpha E Oil. I also love the Equimin Plus supplement and Soy Gize to top their weight up, or in peak competition season as well as the Bighead product and Weight Plus when needed.

We started out 2020 with grand plans of it being the best year to date, little did we know what the year would have install for us all.
We started out the year with Playmore Centerfold at Stanthorpe Show, taking out Champion led Stockhorse and 1st place in the ASH Hack over 15hh class.
Next stop was Bangalow Buckle Challenge in February, where “Iggy Madeuswait” made her debut earning a respectable 3rd overall in the 2yo challenge. The ever so reliable duo of “Koorala Enchanted Rose” and “Emugully What A Gem” went a phenomenal 1st and 2nd overall in the Young Horse Challenge, earning me my first buckle.
We managed to sneak in Oakey show on the 14th March, the week Corona Virus was announced. “Emugully Kakadu” made his debut as a weanling colt, winning the led ASH Colt/Stallion class. “Playmore Centerfold” and “Iggy Madeuswait” placed in both their led and ridden classes also. I also prepared TB gelding “Marenostro” for his owners, where he placed in his classes in the Open Hack ring.
From there it went down hill fast, with 7 horses in preparation for the busy show season, Corona went viral, shows were cancelled and most of the horses returned home to their owners. After recovering from the shock to the system and the change in the daily routine. We found some motivation during the year, I started breaking in a few horses, sold some horses, worked some new client horses and attended some lessons with Ian Francis, Campdrafting clinic with Felicity Burton, Bison clinics with Stareen Bison, some online shows and a cutting show.
As the year now comes to a close, we are preparing for a bigger and better 2021, with the hope the year returns to some sort of norm. So far we are planning on attending some local ag shows and campdrafts, the ARBC challenge, ASHS Futurities and ASHS National Show.
I look forward to debuting some new youngstock and showing the old faithfuls.
I would like to thank Hyfeed for the continued support throughout the rollercoaster ride of 2020 and I very much look forward to continuing the partnership into 2021.

For us, my family and I, horses are an enjoyable past time, which has created friendships and lots and lots of funny stories. I am not a professional, I am an average bloke, who with my wife thought the Australian Stock Horse Shows looked fun and something the whole family could enjoy. Hence, start of the journey from a bush rider to riding in the show ring. I have enjoyed the challenge and reward of producing horses from the concept of breeding or purchase as a yearling through to a mature horse.
I believe the best gift you can offer your horse is a solid education. I enjoy competing, I enjoy the atmosphere, I enjoy the challenge, but most of all, I enjoy our horses producing workouts which are an accumulation of their education and journey to the show. Each horse is different; therefore, the journey is different each time. We have found the feed is part of the foundation, if the foundation is strong, you’re in for a long show season and not very successful show season.
I understand Hyfeed in the past has sponsored riders within the Australian Stock Horse field before and because to this sponsorship we became aware of the Hyfeed range, thank you Beth Newton. However, I am located on the Far North Coast of NSW and environment here creates its own challenges, namely humidity and a high concentration of oxalates within our pastures. These challenges are addressed by the careful selection of feeds for our horses. Conditions on the coast have further been exasperated by drought conditions, creating a shortage of available fibre. With more experience and greater understanding, we have placed a great deal of enthuses on the right feeds.
We know the importance of high fibre diets, as one horse suffers from gastric ulcers and another will tying up. Our horses diets are based on high fibre and high fat. We look for a pellet, which is high in fibre and low in starch and grain free. Our solution is Hyfeed Shine On, it needs the needs and is cost effective. We have been so impressed with the results, we feel like to represent Hyfeed already, as we tell everyone about the Shine On pellet and I am sure this is reflected in the growth of sales at McGregor Gourlay South Grafton.

Well 2020 will be a year we will never forget and a year that has possibly changed the way the world operates into the future.
December has rolled around so fast it feels like yesterday we were at the start of march preparing for a massive 2020 challenge and Campdraft season, didn’t that grind to a sudden halt!!!!
on a positive note we as a family have had an amazing year, lockdown has allowed us to reconnect as a family and spend some quality time with our kids and given us time develop our other business interests away from the horse industry. For myself It’s certainly been what I believe is a breath of fresh air, we went on our first family holiday ever. And not 1 horse was in sight!! Yes we get to travel a lot and enjoy the social atmosphere that comes from being lucky enough to train and show horses for a living but the truck load of horses and the pressures of performing certainly can put a strain on things.
We have had some very loyal and faithful clients that have supported us and kept horses with us through these Difficult times to allow our business to keep operating and improving. We are very thankful and grateful for their faith and support. We did get to do 1 Campdraft this year Ridgelands Campdraft in early September. We had a great draft O on ak Acre Henry Owned by Paul and Kylie Herrod placing 4th in the futurity draft and also running off the cut out with a 24.
We currently have 2021 Nutrien Classic sale horses here in prep and our 2021 challenge and Campdraft horses are starting to roll in.
If every show that is proposed goes ahead in 2021 we are going to have quite a busy schedule. At this stage out stockmans challenge season will kick off with back to back shows in March starting with Coonamble Challenge and Campdraft and ARBC Dalby running the following weekend as well as some local Campdrafts Kicking off early March.
Thank you very much for your support for 2020 we really appreciate everything Hyfeed does for our business and our horses and I hope we can get out and about to repay the favour and everyone catches up in 2021.

Ashlee, Holly & Keely Sturgess
2020, the year that we had big plans for. Ashlee and Holly headed over to the Tara Show to kick off the year. Despite the very hot day and abundance of flies they walked away with Champion and Reserve Girl Riders, Champion Hunter Hack and Supreme Show Hunter. Keely and Ashlee competed at the Fairholme College Interschool Showjumping, with Keely placing 4th in the 80cm Primary class, and then on the drive home the news that we would all be on lockdown.
We kept the horses ticking over as homeschool is boring when you can’t go riding, mustering or anything other than school work. As the weeks went on a few training days with our Polocrosse club started again and we headed to Tara Polocrosse for their Covid Carnival.
Keely played her first carnival in the Juniors competition, whilst Ashlee and Holly competed in the Open grades, playing some good games with Senior players. Ashlee also kept her Interschool horse going and qualified for the State titles in October. She was lucky enough to earn a spot on the Qld Merit Team in the Show Hunter class. Although Nationals were cancelled it is good to be recognised for their achievement.
Unfortunately for Keely, her horse was lame and so she missed jumping at the State event. In 2021, there are many goals planned. Ashlee would like to again make the Qld Team for Interschool Nationals. Holly has ambitions to play for the Qld Juniors at the 2022 Polocrosse Nationals. Keely has taken over the reins of Holly’s polocrosse horse and would also like to make it in the Sub Junior team for the 2022 Nationals, but she also loves her Showjumping. This will be her last year in Primary school so we will see if her old horse can make it one last time. Keely has been chosen as a 2021 Sports Captain at her school and both Ashlee and Holly achieved Academic Awards at the school presentation, so 2020 wasn’t as bad as we thought.

Brylee Tudge
2020 was an extremely difficult year, yes it was for the whole world but unfortunately I had to say the hardest goodbye in horse ownership.
Rivergums On the Money or as she was called regularly “Maggie” or “princess” was peacefully put to sleep where she now is pain free. After 3 amazing years with Maggie, 3rd in the state in 2019, many wins and many amazing memories, it was a very difficult and heartbreaking time.
My plans had been forced to change, I decided to have a break and look for a new horse in 2021. But if you live a horsey life you know that nothing goes to plan. When I wasn’t even looking I was given the amazing opportunity to purchase a beautiful gelding called “Never Give In” the name was pure fate!
Winston as we call him in the stable, has settled into my new life easily, we are still getting to know one another and learning each others buttons. Next year our prime focus will be dressage, but for the first time in 5 years I will begin training showjumping again... something Winston loves to do!
But for now I’m enjoying being back in the saddle, having Long Beach strolls on this amazing horse that has put a spark back in my heart! I cannot thank Hyfeed enough for their continued support over the last 4 years. Thank you!
