Illourine Performance Horses

2020 was a very start and stop kind of year for us. With a late start to the competition year due to building our horse paddocks, stables and arena we finally got going in March.  Starting with a Showjumping clinic with Rod McQueen through our local jump club and then our fist show, the Hunter Valley Showjumping Championships with a team of 5 horses.

Needless to say that’s when things came to a screaming halt. After having gone through Equine Influenza we knew this was going to be a human version and not much was going to happen for some time.

Once everything looked like opening again it got chaotic here. We had 5 competition horses in work plus 4 additional horses in work. All whilst I was working full time and Jack was between the horses and the farm. It kept us on our toes.

We then ran another Showjumping Clinic with Rod McQueen in June, attended Moree Show Showjumping Spectacular in August and ran a Showjumping Competition weekend through the local jump club.

Things became quiet around our area again so we headed to the Central Coast for a week of lessons at Equus Australia with Rod Brown and Rod McQueen followed by a one day show at Krissy & Heath Harris’ amazing new equine facility, ‘Stonewall’. It is going to be a huge asset to Australian Equine Community once finished.

Once we finished down South we came home we turned the competition horses out and have started breaking in our 3yr olds. Both whom we bred by our Stallion Lightening Strikes. We spent a weekend with Scott Richo touching up and learning new horseman ship skills with the breakers.

We also ran another Rod McQueen clinic in September. And attended a clinic run by Ross Smith and Hayley Morris in the lead up to the November Showjumping Competition at Toowoomba.

2021 is looking chaotic with plenty of shows on the agenda up to July so far and will have us heading back to Qld a couple of times.

Our goals for 2021 are:

  • Lightening Strikes - Start in a Futurity Class

  • Ludi Romani - Clean Consistent rounds and possibly a sale

  • Original Sin - Injury free and back on the truck 🤞 Showtown - Win amateur class

  • Priceless Rock - finish the year jumping 1.20m Plus we are putting in a dam to swim the horses, super excited about that one!
