Alpha E Oil

Feeding oil to horses has been a common practice among many owners and trainers for years. This practice has many benefits and contributes to the horses overall health. Oils are being used to reduce the dependence on grain diets with the aim of reducing incidence of starch overload metabolic problems like colic, founder and fizzy behaviour.

Oil is more energy dense than any other horse feed and the same weight of oil has about two and a half times more energy as corn and three times more energy than oats. For example Alpha-E oil will provide the same amount of energy as 3/4 kg of oats or half a biscuit of good hay.

Many equine feeds use fat or recycled vegetable oil which has undergone chemical processing, and the majority are high in poor quality saturated oils. Hyfeed owns the only oilseed cold press processing plant based in QLD that produces chemical free, natural oils. Alpha-E contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids and is also enriched with Vitamin E a natural anti-oxidant. It is also important to realise that many oil/fat supplements contain contains Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids and is also enriched with Vitamin E a natural anti-oxidant. It is also important to realise that many oil/fat supplements contain high levels of saturated fats which will increase the laying down of internal body fat rather than being used as cool energy.
