Heartthrob Arabians- Emma Barkla
Emma has been competing from a young age, and fell totally in love with the Arabian Breed when her parents purchased her an amazing purebred Arabian gelding Agecroft Sudan as a Christmas persent in 1994. Sudan was a 4yr old untrained gelding and Emma was a young untrained rider, however they stuck to it and her parents gave her riding lessons with Julie Rogers in Brisbane. Sudan and Emma went on to become a phenomenal team and took out many championships in both hacking and dressage.
Sudan was retired in 1998 after becoming very ill and now sits at home in his paddock surrounded by his favourite mares. After Sudan came the magnificent Stock Horse gelding Sara Oaks Bally's Pride. Canungra as he was knowen, also carried Emma to many wins in Dressage & Hacking prior to his retirement in 2000.
It was in 2000 that Heartthrob Arabians & Riding Ponies was started with the aquisition of some magnificent quality mares. Emma soon lurnt that through happiness also comes pain with the untimely passing of a couple of young horses and one of her fabulous warmblood mare. However life dose go on and if anything this has made her stronger and more determined.
Heartthrob Arabians purchased their first colt Ascot Choir Master (Ascot Classic x Ascot Lisa Marie) in November 2006 at 5 weeks of age and also bred their first colt Heartthrob Prince of Thieves (Rathowen Parody x Arabenn Natural Style) in the same year. Ascott Choir Master is starting to maks his mark in the led show ring and as a yearling has amassed some wonderfull wins and placings from only 4 shows. Heartthrob Prince of Thieves is a little slower at maturing but sure to make his mark when the time comes. Emmas aim is to breed quality not quantity and so far the future is looking very bright. Their mare band comprises of some magnificent animals and they have just retired the magnificient and Multi Champion Anglo Arabian mare Ledemar's Sharnay to the broodmare band. She is currently in foal to Jive Magic (imp) for a late December Foal. Sharnay was undefeated in the Anglo Arabian Ring prior to her retirement.
